Solar Tower visit 2026

On October 1, 2026, we visited the Solar Tower at Ma Wan, Hong Kong’s only solar tower. The facility houses a 350mm-diameter vacuum solar telescope, which is the largest professional telescope in Southeast Asia open to the public. Through this instrument, visitors can observe real-time solar surface activity, including sunspots and solar flares. The tower also features various astronomical equipment and exhibition displays that offer an immersive introduction to the sun and the solar system.
